When you create a quote and order, we provide a variety of visual effects that make it easy to see how prices are changing, while producing accurate pricing calculations and booking metrics.&nbsp; Let's dive in!

In the <a title="Get Started with Price Builder" href="../get-started-price-builder">last guide</a>, we have created a set of Vroom products and bundles, configured a price tag for overage pricing, as well as a discount tag for 3-year subscription ramp pricing.&nbsp; Now we're going to create quotes and orders in Nue on Salesforce, and see these products and prices in action at operational time.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
In this guide, we will provide practical examples using a hypothetical prospect/customer named Smart Revenue Inc.&nbsp;This potential buyer is interested in the Vroom products.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
<h2><a id="create-account-n-opportunity"></a>Create Account and Opportunity</h2>
Login to your Salesforce Org, and in Salesforce App Launcher, search for Nue on Salesforce, and select to open the app.&nbsp;
&nbsp;

Now let&rsquo;s create a quote for Smart Revenue Inc.:

<h3><a id="product-configurator"></a><a id="configure-bundle-product"></a>Configure Bundle Product</h3>
Since this product is a bundle product, the Product Configurator launches.

<li>In the Product Configurator, you can see all the bundled product options, as well as add-on product options.&nbsp; The default quantities, list prices, as well as whether the product options are recommended or required are all displayed in each product option tile.&nbsp;</li>
<li> Enable 'Only display add-on options' toggle to show add-on products only.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

<li>In the Price Summary panel on the upper right side, you can see the estimated prices for 1 License/Month for 12 months.&nbsp; This gives you a general idea of the total prices of the product options you configure into this bundle.</li>
<li>In the 'Vroom Webinar' product panel, since we configured the Vroom Webinar to include 100 free units, so you can see the default unit is 100.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Click on the '$' icon to see the Price Tag.&nbsp; You can see the Webinar Price Tiers being applied to this product option.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

<li>Now enter '300' total units.&nbsp; This will trigger the subtotal to be recalculated as $414.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<li>How is $414 calculated?&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>The Webinar Price Tiers has a $0 price tier per unit for 0-250 participants, and a $0.69 price tier per unit for 250-300 participants.&nbsp;</li>
<li>The Price Model is Tiered Pricing.</li>
<li>So the total price is equal to: ($0 * 250 + $0.69 * 50) * 12 (months) = $414</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>You can also try different numbers of partcipants, and see the pricing engine in action in real-time.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Enter 2 total units (Each) for Vroom Phone.&nbsp; The subtotal is changed to $5.99 because we configured the bundle to include 1 phone for free, and each additional phone is $5.99.</li>
<li>Enter 100 total units (Hours) for Professional Services.&nbsp; The subtotal is changed to $8,000, because we configured the bundle to include 20 professional services hours for free, and any additional hour will be priced at $100 per hour.
<ul>
<li>You can also try to enter 250 Total Units.&nbsp; Because we configured this production option to have a maximum quantity 200 in this bundle, you will receive the following error message:&nbsp; Units must be between 1 and 200</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Click Confirm.&nbsp; The VROOM BUSINESS bundle as well as the configured products are automatically added to the Line Editor.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Click 'Add new product' vertical tab on the right side to close the Select Product panel.</li>
</ul>
<a id="edit-line-items"></a>
<h3>Edit Line Items</h3>
In the Line Editor, you can see the dates and pricing details of each line item, including Product Name, List Price, Net Sales Price, Start Date, End Date, Subscription Term, Total Price, Total Amount, Discount, and so on.
&nbsp;
Please refer to <a title="Understand Pricing Fields" href="../understand-pricing-fields">this document</a> for the details of different pricing fields on each line item.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
You notice that some cells have purple-colored fonts, and some are not.&nbsp; The cells with purple-colored fonts are inline editable.&nbsp; Now we are going to make some quick changes.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
<h4><a id="change-bundle-quantity"></a><a id="change-bundle-quantity"></a>Change Bundle Quantity</h4>
First, the customer would like to purchase 100 licenses of VROOM BUSINESS.&nbsp; You can click into the Quantity field of the VROOM BUSINESS line item, and change the value from 1 to 100 in quantity.&nbsp; Notice that the quantity of all its children line items, except for Vroom Phone and Professional Services, has been changed to 100 as well, and the Total Amount as well as other pricing fields, have been recalculated for each line item and aggregated to the quote level.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
The reason why the quantity of Vroom Phone and Professional Services is not changed together with the quantity of the bundle, is that we configured these product options to be not connected to bundle quantity.&nbsp; Therefore, the quantity of these product options can be independently configured.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
<h4><a id="change-subscription-term"></a><a id="change-term"></a>Change Subscription Term</h4>
In the quote header, change the Subscription Term from 12 to 36.&nbsp; This automatically split the VROOM BUSINESS into 4 Ramp Line items, each having a different start and end date.&nbsp;&nbsp;The first ramp line item reflects the 1-month free trial, and the subsequent 3 ramp line items reflect subscription ramp prices for each year in the 36-month subscription term.&nbsp; &nbsp;

<h4>&nbsp;</h4>
<h4><a id="change-total-price"></a>Change Total Price</h4>
In the quote header, change the Total Price to $80,000, which is the negotiated price of the customer.&nbsp; After this change is made, we automatically calculate the discount amount, as well as the discount percentage, and propage the discount percentage evenly to each line item.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
You can also try to change the Start Date, End Date of the quote header, and the Start Date and End Date of each line item (as long as it's shown as purple text) to experience the power of the real-time price calculation of the Line Editor.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
When you change the Start Date, the End Date either at the quote header, or each line item, will be recalculated according to the new Start Date, and the Subscription Term.&nbsp; If you change the End Date, the Subscription Term will be recalculated from the Start Date according to the new End Date.
&nbsp;

<h4><a id="add-metrics-fields"></a>Add Metrics Fields</h4>
You can also click the 'wrench' icon on the upper right corner of the LIne Editor grid to configure more fields into the grid.&nbsp; Now configure the following fields into the grid:&nbsp;

<li>Delta ACV</li>
<li>Delta TCV</li>
<li>Delta ARR</li>
<li>Delta MRR</li>
</ul>
These are the line-level metrics that are automatically calculated while you configure the quote.&nbsp; Delta MRR and Delta ARR are not available for Vroom Phone and Professional Services products because their Revenue Model is One Time.
&nbsp;
Now you can click 'Save and Exit' to save this quote.&nbsp; Only after a few minutes, we have completed creating a quote with complex configuration and pricing.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
You can come back to the Line Editor later by clicking 'Edit Line Item' button on the Quote Details page to reconfigure the quote.
&nbsp;
When the quote is saved, since we set it as a primary quote, its line items will be synchronized to the opportunity as opportunity products.&nbsp; The Opportunity Amount will be updated as the total amount of the quote.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
<h3><a id="approve-quote"></a><a id="submit-quotes-for-approval"></a>Submit Quotes for Approval</h3>
After a quote is created, it can be sent to the Deal Desk for approval.&nbsp; You can configure Salesforce approval processes to work with quotes in an automatically way.&nbsp; For example, you can set up an approval process when the discount % is over a certain threashold.&nbsp; We will skip this step in this guide.
&nbsp;
<h3><a id="generate-order-form"></a><a id="generate-order-forms"></a>Generate Order Forms</h3>
After a quote is approved, it can be generated into an order form using any document generation tool integrated with e-signature available on the Salesforce platform.&nbsp; For example, DocuSign, Ironclad are the common choices.&nbsp; You can send the order form to the customer for e-signature.&nbsp; Will will skip this step in this guide.
&nbsp;
<h2><a id="close-won-opportunity"></a><a id="close-won-opportunity"></a>Close Won Opportunity</h2>
After the order form is signed by the customer, it is time to Close Won the opportunity.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
In Nue, when an opportunity is Closed Won, its primary quote will be automatically converted into an active order.&nbsp; In this process, the following actions occur:&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Each quote line item is generated into a corrspondingo order product;&nbsp;</li>
<li>When the order is activated, each order product will be provisioned into a subscription, an asset or an entitlement, according to the value of the Product Category.</li>
</ul>
By default, Nue supports 4 product categories, and they will be provisioned into object types specified in the following table:&nbsp;

<h2><a id="billing-period"></a>Billing Period</h2>
A billing period refers to a specific timeframe during which goods or services are provided, and for which customers are billed by a business or service provider. It is a predetermined period of time over which the billing activities and charges are calculated and accumulated.
&nbsp;
The duration of a billing period can vary depending on the industry, business model, and agreement between the provider and the customer. Common billing periods include monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.
&nbsp;
The billing period is an essential component of the billing process as it sets the timeframe for which charges are calculated and billed. It provides clarity and structure to both the business and the customer regarding the billing cycle, enabling accurate and timely invoicing.
&nbsp;
Nue supports the following billing periods:

<li>Monthly</li>
<li>Quarterly</li>
<li>Semi-Annual</li>
<li>Annual</li>
<li>Same as Subscription Term</li>
</ul>
It is also important to configure the Start Month of the billing period, which determines the start month of the first billing cycle in a year.
&nbsp;
The Billing Period can be configured at the organization level and can be overridden for a specific customer or product. &nbsp;For example, the default billing period is annual, but a customer may want to be billed quarterly or a specific product needs to be billed monthly.
&nbsp;
The default Billing Period of an order product will be in the following priority order and can be changed in the Quote Line Editor:
Product Billing Settings --&gt; Order Billing Settings --&gt; Account Billing Settings&nbsp;--&gt; Nue System Billing Settings.
&nbsp;
By default, the billing period is monthly, starting January. Admin users can configure the organization-level billing period by following the steps below:&nbsp;

<li>Login to <a title="Nue.io" href="https://app.nue.io">Nue App</a></li>
<li>Navigate to Settings &rarr; Billing Schedules</li>
<li>Configure the Billing Period, and set the Start From month.&nbsp;&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>If the Biling Cycle Day is set to Auto-Set to the First Subscription, then the billing start month cannot be changed.&nbsp; It will be default to the Start Date of the first subscription.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Additionally, admin users can set the billing period to align with the customer's first order or subscription by checking the 'Automatically align the billing period of an account with its initial Subscription/Order'. When this setting is checked, the account's billing period will be set to the billing period of the customer's first subscription or order automatically.</li>

<h4>Users can override the organization default Billing Period and Start Month for a specific customer:&nbsp;</h4>

<li>Login to Salesforce and navigate to Accounts</li>
<li>Click to open the customer account</li>
<li>In account details, edit Billing Period and Bill Cycle Start Month. &nbsp;</li>
</ul>
If a customer account has a different billing period than the organization default, the billing period of a newly created order will be set to the customer's billing period instead.
&nbsp;
<h4>Users can also override the organization default Billing Period for a specific product:&nbsp;</h4>
<ul>
<li>Login to Nue and navigate to Product Catalog:</li>
<li>Click to open the product</li>
<li>In the product edit page, edit Billing Period. &nbsp;</li>
</ul>
If a product has a different billing period than the organization default, when adding the product to an order, the billing period of the order product will be set to the product's billing period instead.
&nbsp;
<h4>Same as Subscription Term</h4>
This option is typically used when you bill your customers in total just once when the first billing cycle day comes, instead of periodically doing it in each billing cycle. Please note that if you choose this option as the billing period for any of your products or customers, the&nbsp;Bill Cycle Day&nbsp;and&nbsp;Bill Cycle Start Month&nbsp;will be ignored. Instead, the subscription's billing cycle day will be set as the start date of the subscription.
&nbsp;
<h2><a id="bill-cycle-day"></a>Bill Cycle Day</h2>
The bill cycle day refers to a specific day of the month on which a business or service provider initiates the billing cycle for a customer. It serves as a reference point to determine the start and end dates of the billing period and influences the timing of invoice generation and payment due dates.
&nbsp;
When a customer's billing cycle begins and ends is determined by the bill cycle day. For example, if the bill cycle day is the 15th of the month, the billing period for that customer would typically span from the 15th of one month to the 14th of the following month.
&nbsp;
The Bill Cycle Day can be configured at the organization level, and can be overridden for a specific customer.&nbsp;
<h3><a id="anniversary-billing"></a>Anniversary Billing</h3>
Anniversary billing is commonly used in subscription-based industries such as telecommunications, software-as-a-service (SaaS), and membership-based services. It allows businesses to align their billing practices with the customer's initial sign-up date.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
In anniversary billing, the billing cycle and charges are determined based on the individual customer's specific activation or subscription start date. For example, if a customer signs up for a service on July 5th, their anniversary billing date would occur on July 5th of each subsequent year.
&nbsp;
This billing method allows for personalized billing cycles tailored to each customer's unique subscription or service start date. It ensures that customers are billed consistently on the same day each year, providing predictability and clarity in the billing process.
&nbsp;
By default, the Bill Cycle Day is 1st of Month, Admin users can configure the organization-level Bill Cycle Day by following the steps below:&nbsp;

<li>Configure the Bill Cycle Day

<li>To set a specific day of the month for invoice generation and align the Billing Cycle Day for all customers, choose the option "Specific Day of Month".&nbsp; If 31st of Month is selected, Nue billing engine will generate invoices in the last day of the month.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

Billing Timing determiens whether the products or services are billed before or after the products or services are delivered or consumed.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Nue supports 2 different billing timing options: Bill In Advance and Bill in Arrears.&nbsp;
<h4>Bill In Advance</h4>
Bill In Advance option allows for the invoicing of customers before the provision of products or services. With this billing timing option, customers are charged in advance for a specified billing period.&nbsp;
<h4>Bill In Arrears</h4>
Bill in Arrears option allows for the invoicing of customers after the products or services have been provided or consumed. In this billing model, customers are billed for the usage or consumption that has already occurred within a specific billing period.
&nbsp;
For example, if you have a monthly subscription service and utilize bill in arrears, your customers would be billed at the end of each month for the services they have already received during that month. The charges are based on the actual usage or consumption of the products or services.
<h4>Organization Defaults</h4>
Nue sets default billing timing for different revenue models.&nbsp;

With Nue Lifecycle Manager, you can easily upsell or downsell a subscription, an add-on subscription, an asset or an entitlement.&nbsp; In this article, we'll outline several common upsell and downsell scenarios.

Users can login to Salesforce, and navigate to an account.&nbsp; Click 'Manage Customer Lifecycle" to navigate to the Lifecycle Manager.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
<h2><a id="add-quantity"></a>Upsell - Add Product Quantity</h2>
In the upsell scenarios, customers want to make mid-term changes to add product quantities.&nbsp; With Nue, you can easily add quantities in the Lifecycle Manager for one or more subscripitons, entitlements and assets, and checkout the change requests into a quote or an order.&nbsp; Nue will automatically process the changes in quantity, and in total price.&nbsp; When the Opportunity is Closed Won, or the order is activated, the subscriptions, entitlements, or assets will be versioned with the quantity added, and the metrics recalculated.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
<h3><a id="add-quantity"></a>Add quantity to subscriptions</h3>
Scenario: A user wants to add more units to an existing subscription and coterm the added units with the subscription's end date.
&nbsp;
For example, the customer Smart Revenue has a subscription starting 1/1/2023 and ending 12/31/2023 with 110 users.&nbsp; A sales rep wants to add 1 user to this subscription starting 07/01/2023, and she wants the 1 additional user to also end on 12/31/2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
You can follow the steps below to implement this scenario.&nbsp;&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Navigate to the Lifecycle Manager &gt; Subscriptions Tab</li>
<li>Use 'Search Subscriptions' to use Subscription Number or Product Name to find the subscription.</li>
<li>Click 'Update Quantity'</li>
<li>Add 1 User starting 07/01/2023</li>
<li>Click 'Confirm'.</li>
<li>Now the change request is added to the Change Cart.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Checkout from the Change Cart into a new quote or order.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Follow the Create Quote (or Create Order) process.&nbsp;&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>If you are creating a new quote, you will need to associate the quote to an existing opportunity, or create a new opportunity.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Click 'Save and Next'</li>
<li>In the Line Editor, expand the Summary Line to see the change line.&nbsp; You can see 1 user is added starting 07/01/2023, and the total price is prorated for 6 months only.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You can change the Discount or the Net Sales Price.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>You can click 'Edit' icon in the Change Line to edit the quantity or start date.&nbsp; The prices will be recalculated when you confirm the edits..</li>

Click Save and Exit, and Close Won the opportunity if you chose to create a primary quote, or activate the order directly if you chose to create an order.&nbsp;

When the order is activated, the subscription will be versioned to reflect this change.&nbsp; If you navigate back to the lifecycle manager, you can see the Subscription is changed to Version 2, and the quantity is updated to 111.
&nbsp;
<h3><a id="add-quantity-bundle"></a>Add quantity to bundle subscriptions</h3>
Scenario: A user wants to add more units to an existing bundle subscription and coterm the added units with the subscription's end date.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
You can follow the exact same steps to add quantity to a bundle subscription.&nbsp; When you check out into a quote or order, in the Line Editor, Nue will automatically add quantities not only to the bundle subscription itself, but also to all children subscriptions that are connected to the bundle quantity.&nbsp;&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>When adding a product to a bundle, if you configure "Link to Bundle Quantity" as true, then the quantity of the product will go along with the quantity of the bundle.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
Child product quantity = Bundle Quantity x Product Option Quantity In the screenshot below, both children subscriptions "Group Meetings" and "Private and Group Chats" are updated with added 10 units, together with the bundle.&nbsp;&nbsp;

When you Close Won the opportunity or activate the order, the bundle subscription, as well as its children subscriptions that are connected to the bundle quantity will be updated to a newer version.

<h3><a id="add-quantity-addon"></a>Add quantity to add-on subscriptions</h3>
Scenario: A user wants to add more units to an add-on subscription that is not connected with the bundle quantity, and coterm the added units with the subscription's end date. &nbsp;
&nbsp;
For example, Smart Revenue has a subscription VROOM BUSINESS, which has an add-on Vroom Webinar.&nbsp; Vroom Webinar is based on an overage usage revenue model, thus it s not configured to connect with the bundle quantity.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
You can use the exact same steps to add more quantity to the add-on subscription ("Vroom Webinar").
&nbsp;
When you search for "Vroom Webinar" in the Lifecycle Manager's Subscriptions tab, the Vroom Webinar Subscription will be displayed under the VROOM BUSINESS parent subscription, so that you are aware that it is not a standalone subscription.&nbsp;&nbsp;

All changes will be logged as Change Log records in the Change History.&nbsp; You can navigate to the Subscription card and click Change History, or navigate to the Asset and Entitlement card and click See Details to view the Change History.

<h3><a id="reduce-quantity"></a><a id="reduce-quantity-from-subs-assets-entitlements"></a>Reduce quantity from subscriptions, assets and entitlements</h3>
Scenario: A user want to reduce quantity of a subscription, a bundle subscription with children subscriptions, or an add-on subscription.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
For example, the customer Smart Revenue has a subscription starting 1/1/2023 and ending 12/31/2023 with 110 users.&nbsp; A sales rep wants to reduce 10 users to this subscription starting 10/01/2023.&nbsp; She expects that after the change, the subscription has 111 users till 09/30/2023, and has 100 user since 10/01/2023.
&nbsp;
You can follow the similar steps as adding quantities:
<ul>
<li>Find the subscription in the Lifecycle Manager, and click 'Update Quantity'.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Select Action as 'Reduce' as shown in the screenshot below.&nbsp; Set the quantity to reduce as 10, starting 10/01/2023.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Click 'Confirm' to add to the change cart.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Additionally, if you want to reduce quantities for other subscriptions, add-on subscriptions assets or entitlements, you can repeat these steps.&nbsp; All the change requests will be added to the change cart.</li>
<li>When you are ready, click Change Cart, and make final review or edits of your changes, and click Checkout.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>You can choose to checkout into a new quote, a new order, an existing quote or an existing order.&nbsp; Simply follow the checkout page flow.&nbsp;&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>If you checkout into a new quote, in the Create Quote step, you must either create a new opportunity, or choose an existing opportunity, so that the changes in ARR and total amounts can be rolled into the opportunity pipeline.</li>
</ul>

In the downsell scenario, Nue uses the same Net Sales Price of the units that were purchased as the Net Sales Price of the units when calculating the quantity reduction.&nbsp; This ensures that the exact same dollar values be refunded or credited to the customer.
&nbsp;
For example, in the following complex scenario:&nbsp;

<li>Smart Revenue Inc. subscribed to 10 user licenses for $10 each with subscription term 1/1/2023 to 12/31/2023.</li>
<li>On 07/01/2023, they added 10 user licenses with only $8 per license, for the same subscription.</li>

To configure tax information for products, you can follow the steps below:&nbsp;

<li>Click to edit a product or bundle product.</li>
<li>You should see 2 tax related fields:&nbsp;

<li>Tax Mode: "Tax Mode" refers to the method used to calculate and apply taxes to product prices or transaction amounts. There are two primary tax modes: Inclusive and Exclusive.

<li>Exclusive: Exclusive tax mode means that the tax amount is added on top of the price of the product or service at the time of purchase.&nbsp; This is the default value.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

<li>Tax Code: This refers to Nue Tax Code you created in the last step.&nbsp; For example, you can select 'Core Platform'. Only active tax codes are available to use.</li>

In an automated tax calculation system like Stripe Tax, once a product is associated with a specific Tax Code, it means that the product is linked to a predefined tax treatment, such as a particular tax rate or exemption status. When a transaction occurs, the tax amount applied to that product will be determined by several factors, including:

Shipping Address: The tax rate may vary depending on the location of the customer's shipping address. Different jurisdictions have different tax rates and rules, and the tax calculation will consider the applicable rate based on the customer's location.

Transaction Date: Tax rates can change over time due to legislative updates or other factors. Therefore, the date of the transaction is considered to ensure that the correct tax rate at that specific time is applied.
</li>
<li>
Tax Code of the Product: As mentioned, the product's Tax Code defines how it should be taxed. It may have different tax treatments based on its category, usage, or any applicable tax exemptions.
</li>

When users create a quote or an order, they can enter Billing Address and Shipping Address in the General Informations step.&nbsp; For example:&nbsp;

After users add products to the quote or order in the Line Editor step and click Quick Save, the taxes will be automatically calculated and shown in both the Price Summary and each line item.

<li class="li1">When the Tax Mode is Exclusive for a product, the Total Amount is the sum of the Total Price and the Tax Amount.</li>
<li class="li1">When the Tax Mode is Inclusive for a product, the Total Amount is equal to the Total Price.</li>
<li class="li1">If the quote or order contains both Tax Exclusive and Tax Inclusive products, the Total Amount in the Price Summary may not be equal to the sum of Total Price and Total Amount, due to different tax treatments for various products.</li>
</ul>
Additionally, users can view the detailed breakdown of taxes by clicking on the 'Tax Breakdown' icon located in the price summary section. In the summary view, the Tax Amount, Taxable Amount, and Tax Rate for the current quote or order will be displayed. In case users require more information, they can expand the tax summary to a full view of the tax breakdown list in a popup window, which will display all the relevant details, including tax code, type, and region information.

If there is no shipping address entered in the quote or order, the shipping address of the customer will be used.&nbsp; If there is no shipping address of the customer, and there are products subject to taxations, a warning sign will be displayed next to Tax and Total Amount fields in the price summary, indicating the shipping address is required.

For businesses that already have a usage metering system in place, integrating that system with Nue, while still generating invoice items using Nue's billing engine, results in a streamlined approach to managing usage data and billing operations. This article will guide you through how to ingest rated usage from your existing metering system into Nue, allowing for seamless billing and invoicing.
<h1 class="p1"><a id="separation-rating-billing"></a>The Separation of Rating and Billing</h1>
Nue is designed with a clear separation between usage rating and billing processes. This flexibility allows businesses to maintain their existing usage metering system - such as Metronome - while benefiting from Nue&rsquo;s robust billing capabilities. Rather than relying on Nue to rate raw usage data, companies can ingest usage data that has already been rated by their existing system. This means you can continue using the processes and systems you are familiar with while gaining the additional advantages of Nue&rsquo;s billing engine.
<h1 class="p1"><a id="how-it-works"></a>How It Works</h1>
The diagram below demonstrates the usage processing flow when integrating an external usage metering and rating system, such as Metronome, with Nue. While Metronome is used as an example in this illustration, the process is applicable to any external usage metering and rating systems.

<li class="p3">Define Price Tags: In the initial stage, you define the price tags for your products and services within Nue. This ensures that the correct tiered pricing structure is in place for your usage products when the rated usage is ingested.</li>
<li class="p3">Pre-Rate &amp; Order Processing: While your existing usage metering system manages the rating of usage data in real-time or on a scheduled basis, Nue handles pre-rating and order processing. This ensures that your quotes and orders, particularly those involving committed usage amounts or credit burndown models, are accurately calculated according to the tiered pricing structure defined in step 1 and are correctly presented to your customers.</li>
<li class="p3">Ingesting Rated Usage: Once usage has been rated by your metering system (e.g., Metronome), the data is ingested into Nue via API, specifically through the /<code>usage/rated-usage</code> endpoint. This data can be ingested in real-time or on a scheduled basis, depending on your needs. Nue also provides a UI to upload the rated usage record. &nbsp;Once the rated usage is ingested, Nue associates it with the pre-rated order products to prepare for subsequent billing processing.</li>
<li class="p3">Billing &amp; Invoicing: After the rated usage data has been ingested, Nue&rsquo;s billing engine takes over. It loads the rated usage and generates invoice items for the corresponding product lines. Alternatively, users can upload rated usage through the UI by following these steps:

<li>In the menu search box, type "Usage" and navigate to the Usage page.</li>
<li>Click on the "Upload" action and select "Rated Usage."</li>
<li>Just like uploading raw usage, you can download a template and create a CSV file containing the rated usage based on the template.</li>
<li>Import the rated usage file.</li>

Once the usage records are successfully uploaded, they will be marked as "Rated." These records will be processed by the billing engine to generate invoice items at the end of the billing period, as products and services under the "Overage Usage" revenue model are typically billed in arrears. You can cancel the rated usage as long as it has not reached the "Billed" status.

When rated usage is ingested via API or UI, the Source field will be populated with the value "ExternalUsage" to distinguish it from raw usage ingested and rated by Nue, which will be tagged with the value "RawUsage.".&nbsp; An example is shown below.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In <a title="Get Started with Quote Builder" href="../get-started-with-quote-builder">the last guide</a> we have walked you through how to create the first quote, close-won the opportunity and activate the first order.&nbsp; After the order was activated, you can see the subscriptions, assets and entitlements in the Lifecycle Manager by clicking on Manage Customer Lifecycle button in the account detail page.

In this guide, we'll walk you though the steps to upsell, cross-sell and renew a customer using the Lifecycle Manager.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
<h1 style="text-align: left;"><a id="upsell-and-renew"></a>Upsell and Renew Subscription</h1>
&nbsp;
In Nue, all changes (including changes to assets, subscriptions and entitlements) are managed using the Lifecycle Manager.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
In the detail page of our hypothetical account Smart Revenue Inc., click on 'Manage customer Lifecycle', and navigate to the Lifecycle Manager.
&nbsp;

Click on the Subscriptions tab.&nbsp; In the Subscription created, you can see the Subscription Total TCV and other metrics, including Today's Quantity, Today's CMRR, Today's ARR, etc.&nbsp; All metrics for 'Today' are calculated nightly, because they could potentially change overnight.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
You can also see a Subscription Revenue Steam that spans through the entire subscription term.&nbsp; In our use case, we have applied a discount tag for the 3-year subscription ramp pricing.&nbsp; So you can see the price ramping clearly from the revenue stream chart.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
In the 'Included Items' panel, you can see the included products in this subscription.&nbsp; These are children subscriptions, assets and entitlements.&nbsp; You can click on any of the children subscriptions.&nbsp; The subscription panel will expand to load the child subscription information as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
Under the subscription summary information, there are several subscription actions:&nbsp;

<h2 style="text-align: left;"><a id="use-case"></a>The Use Case</h2>
Our customer Smart Revenue wants to renew the VROOM BUSINESS subscription for another 12 months (currently, they have a 36-month subscription), and at the same time add 10 licenses.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
They also want to purchase 10 more hours of Professional Services and 1 more Vroom Phone Hardware as a Service starting the beginning of next month.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
Smart Revenue has a small team that wants to add 10 licenses to VROOM PRO at the beginning of next month.&nbsp; But they want to co-term VROOM PRO with VROOM BUSINESS after renewal.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
This sounds complicated, doesn't it?&nbsp;
&nbsp;
Let's see how we can achieve this easily using Lifecycle Manager.&nbsp;
&nbsp;

<li style="text-align: left;">Fill the form to renew for another 12 months, and add 10 licenses upon renewal.</li>

The Change Cart is just like a shopping cart when you shop on Amazon.&nbsp; The changes to existing subscriptions are saved in the Change Cart.&nbsp; You can mouse over each change to edit the change information if your customer wants to make modifications.&nbsp; Once you are ready, you can click 'Checkout' to checkout into a quote or an order.
&nbsp;
If you are a Sales Rep or a Customer Success Manager, you may have more than one customers.&nbsp; So you can also expand to see the change requests you issued for other customers as well.
&nbsp;
<h3>Add More Entitlements</h3>
You can add more units of Professional Services by following steps below:&nbsp;

<li>Navigate to Entitlements</li>
<li>In the Professional Services card, click Update Quantity</li>

<h3><a id="change-cart"></a>More about Change Cart</h3>
Change Cart is designed to simplify the process of making changes to subscriptions, assets, and service entitlements for enterprise sales users.
&nbsp;
What makes the feature truly unique is that it allows users to add change requests into a cart without having to create an empty quote or order first.
&nbsp;
This means that users can make changes to different objects as they navigate through their workflow, and they can add these changes to the cart as they go. Only when the user is ready to proceed with the changes do they need to checkout into a quote or order, which reverses the typical flow of creating a quote first, finding the subscriptions, making amendments, and then converting into an order.
&nbsp;
By using Change Cart, enterprise sales users can avoid creating empty quotes or orders, which can be time-consuming and lead to junk data. Instead, they can simply add change requests to the cart and then checkout when they're ready.
&nbsp;
The feature also provides a range of other benefits, such as the ability to group changes into different carts based on different criteria, such as Customer, Price Book, and Currency. Users can easily delete or discard items from the cart, and the contents of the cart persist across multiple sessions.
&nbsp;
<h2><a id="checkout"></a>Checkout Change Cart</h2>
After you click Checkout, you will be asked whether you want to check out into a new quote, a new order, or an existing quote, an existing order. These options are configurable to suite for the specific needs of your company.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In the Create Quote screen, you notice that the Quote Name is already automatically populated.&nbsp; We call these quotes (and orders) Change Quotes&nbsp;because unlike new sales quotes, they are making changes to existing subscriptions, assets and entitlements.
&nbsp;
You need to create a new opportunity to associate with this quote, so that the ARR of the change quote can be rolled into the opportunity pipeline as well.&nbsp;
&nbsp;

Click Create Opportunity to create a new upsell opportunity.&nbsp; In a typical sales process, there may be more than one opportunity record types, e.g., Upsell, Renewal, each associated with a different sales process.&nbsp; So when you create a new opportunity for a Change Quote, you may be prompted to choose a record type first.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
In our hypothetical company, Vroom, there are no additional record types.&nbsp; So we'll fill up the opportunity form with the following information:&nbsp;

<li>Opportunity Name: Upsell Opportunity for Smart Revenue</li>
<li>Close Date: The last day of this month, e.g., 04/30/2023</li>
<li>Stage: Proposal / Price Quote</li>
<li>Click 'Save'.</li>

Check 'Primary Quote', and click 'Save and Next'.&nbsp;

In the Line Editor, you can see there are 3 products being changed:&nbsp;

<li>For each change request, in this example, a Renewal and an Update Quantity request, there is a Change Line generated that captures the subscription term changes and the price changes.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<li>In each Change Line, the Quantity field captures the Change in Quantity, and the Subscription Term field captures the Change in Subscription Term;&nbsp;</li>
<li>You can also add Delta CMRR, Delta ARR fields to the Line Editor grid, and see the change in CMRR, ARR accordingly;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Each Change Line has a Change Type, which captures the actual changes.&nbsp; We can use this information to analyze the change in ARR for different types of changes.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>The Summary Line (the line being expanded) shows the status of the subscription after the changes occur.&nbsp; In this example, after renewal and upsell, the total quantity will be 110 licenses, and the subscription term will be extened to 48 months.&nbsp; When the upsell opportunity is Closed Won, the Summary Line will become the newer version of the subscription.</li>
<li>Let's suppose Smart Revenue wants to add 20 licenses upon renewal, instead of 10.&nbsp; You can click on the 'Edit' icon in the change line to edit the changes.&nbsp; Change the quantity to 20, and click 'Confirm'.&nbsp; The prices are automatically updated according to the new change.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

<h1><a id="cross-sell"></a>Cross-sell and Coterm</h1>
Now we need to add a VROOM PRO product with 10 licenses for the small team Smart Revenue has.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
With Nue, it is super easy to cross-sell a new product.&nbsp; We just need to add VROOM PRO into this change quote.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;

<li>Click 'Add new product' vertical tab on the right side to open the Select Product panel.</li>
<li>Search VROOM PRO, and drag the price book entry with UOM License/Month into the quote.</li>
<li>When the Product Configurator launches, leave everything as the default configuration, and click Confirm.</li>

<li>Click into account Smart Revenue Inc., and click Manage Customer Lifecycle.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Click Subscriptions tab.</li>
<li>You can see that VROOM BUSINESS Subscription has been updated into V2.&nbsp; The quantity is changed to 120 licenses, and the Start and End Date, the Subscription Term are updated to reflect the renewal of 12 months.&nbsp;</li>
<li>In the Subscription Stream, you can clearly see a renewal, and an expansion.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

<h4>Customizable payment terms</h4>

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Presently, Nue offers the following payment terms: Due Upon Receipt, Net 15, Net 30, Net 45, and Net 60.&nbsp; This enhancement allows admin users to create custom payment terms tailored to their unique business requirements, such as Net 7 or Net 90. These custom payment terms can subsequently be used when creating quotes or orders. The Due Date of the resulting invoices will be calculated based on the selected custom payment terms. <h4>Ability to select more than one default payment methods</h4>

This new logging view provides better visibility into API usage patterns and allows admin users to easily monitor which API keys are being used and how heavily they are being utilized.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">This feature improves transparency around API consumption and allows admin users to quickly isolate issues related to specific API keys if needed.</li>

<h4>Use relative dates in the graphQL builder and filters</h4>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Users can now use relative dates when filtering data in GraphQL queries. This allows for more dynamic filters based on values like "Today", "Now", plus/minus a specified number of days/months/years. There is a "Use Absolute Date" option to switch back to the regular date picker if needed.</li>

<h4>"Copy ID" for list components</h4>

Users can now close any Settings modal by clicking the 'X' icon in the top right.&nbsp;This allows users to return to the default Settings state easily after updating configurations or reviewing information.</li>

<h4>Ability to see Log Out option when clicking on the profile picture</h4>

<h4>Ability to view tax details for invoices, credit memos, and orders</h4>

A new "Tax Breakdown" icon is available in the action column on the invoice, credit memo, and order list views. Clicking the icon opens a popup window displaying the tax breakdown line items.</li>

<h4>Collection method preferences for invoices in Stripe</h4>

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Finance users can now set their preferred method for collecting invoice payments from customers in Stripe. To configure the collection method preference, navigate to: Nue Settings &rarr; Integrations &rarr; Stripe &rarr; Collection Method Preference</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">The "Automatically Charge" option will attempt to charge the customer's default payment method, falling back to email if no valid method is available; while the "Send Email" option ensures invoices are always emailed to customers with payment instructions, and the "Smart Collection" option intelligently determines whether to charge a stored payment method or send the invoice by email based on the customer's payment capabilities.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">This new configuration allows finance teams to align invoice collection with their preferred processes while still maintaining flexibility based on the customer's payment capabilities.</li>

<h4>Invoice Preview of Account is missing the last date of the term</h4>

Attributes can be mapped to numeric fields on related objects (Quote, Order, Opportunity, Account, or custom objects). <li>Enhanced Price and Discount Tags: New "Quantity Tier Attribute" field available when creating price or discount tags. It allows selection of a custom attribute to determine pricing tiers. Applicable for volume-based pricing models with quantity as the UOM dimension</li>
<li>Dynamic Pricing at Quote/Order Time: Pricing tiers are now determined by the selected quantity tier attribute value. It supports various scenarios like user-based subscription plans or integration-based discounts.</li>

<li>After activation, the new billing period is synchronized with Nue and applies to any unbilled terms, meaning if a quarterly subscription has been partially billed and is changed to annual, the remaining period will follow the new annual billing cycle.</li>

<li>Salesforce limitations prevent packaging standard objects and fields into a prebuilt fieldset. Users must follow the setup guide to add these manually to the "Nue Basic" and "Nue System Administration" permission sets after installing the Nue on Salesforce package.</li>

<li>In this release we've added the ability to configure Language Locale and document templates at the entity level for more granular control over Invoice and Quote PDF generation.</li>
<li>Three new fields have been added to the entity create/update UI:

<li>Language Locale: Default to the Language Locale of the organization. The language locale of the entity will be used to format the currency, numbers and dates in the PDF. &nbsp;If there is no Language Locale, then the organization locale will be used.</li>
<li>Invoice Template and Quote Template: Entity-level templates serve as fallback options when no specific template is set on the Invoice / Quote.</li>

<h4>Unable to close won opportunities when their quote names are longer than 80 characters</h4>
<ul>
<li>We have implemented a fix that automatically truncates the quote name to 80 characters when closing a won opportunity. This ensures that users can now close won opportunities without encountering errors, even if their quote names are longer than 80 characters.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Subscription renew stuck to Year instead of Month and default to 12</h4>
<ul>
<li>Previously, when renewing a subscription with a default term of 12 months, the renewal dialog incorrectly defaulted to years and could not be switched back to months. This bug has been fixed to ensure that the renewal dialog now correctly allows users to select between months and years.</li>

<h4>Quote Header subscription term is not updated when the Quote Line Items are updated</h4>
<ul>
<li>Previously, when users created a quote with a bundle and then updated the Quote Line Items, the Quote Header subscription term did not update accordingly. This issue has been resolved. Quote Header now accurately reflects the subscription term based on the earliest Start Date and the latest End Date of the Quote Line Items.</li>
</ul>
<h4>The Min/Max/Allow editing of product quantity on a product option in a bundle is not enforced on a Quote Line Item when the Quote Line Item has ramp lines</h4>
<ul>
<li>Previously, there was a problem where the Min/Max/Allow editing of product quantity on a product option in a bundle was not enforced on a Quote Line Item when the Quote Line Item had ramp lines. This issue has been fixed in this release. The fix ensures that the Min/Max/Allow editing of product quantity settings are consistently enforced on Quote Line Items.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Editing pre-applied ramp tags adds extra ramp lines on top of the previous ramp tags</h4>
<ul>
<li>Users experienced issues with unnecessary ramp lines, inability to delete ramp lines, and reversed start and end dates when editing pre-applied ramp tags on quote lines. This issue has been resolved. The bug fix ensures accurate application and deletion of ramp tags, enhancing the usability of the ramp tagging feature.</li>
</ul>
<h4>The pricing fields on default line bucket won't update with changes on the quote</h4>
<ul>
<li>The pricing fields on the default line bucket were not updating with changes made on the quote. Specifically, when a discount amount was modified on the quote header, the default line bucket did not reflect this change, leading to discrepancies in the discount amount and total price/amount on the generated order.</li>
<li>The issue has been resolved. Now, when the discount amount is updated on the quote header, the default line bucket will correctly reflect the new discount amount, ensuring accurate pricing and totals on all generated orders.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Sales price for the updated quantity is incorrect when updating the quantity of an asset in an order</h4>
<ul>
<li>Previously, when updating the quantity of an asset in an order, the sales price for the updated quantity was incorrectly calculated, resulting in a negative discount. We have fixed this issue in this release. The system now correctly calculates the sales price for the updated quantity without applying a negative discount, ensuring accurate and consistent pricing for all orders.</li>
</ul>
<h4>Quote line billing period gets overwritten by header level billing period upon order creation</h4>
<ul>
<li>Previously, when creating an order from a quote that included line items with different billing periods (e.g., Annual and Monthly), all line items would inherit the billing period from the quote header level.</li>
<li>With this fix, the billing period set at the quote line level will now be preserved upon order creation. This ensures that users can maintain the intended billing periods for each line item, providing greater flexibility and accuracy in billing.</li>

<h4>Before/After Calculation on UI Plugin does not show the correct value of Quote custom field in the header</h4>
<ul>
<li>We've fixed a critical issue where the Before/After Calculation UI Plugin wasn't reflecting updated values of Quote custom fields in the header, instead persisting the original value throughout subsequent changes.</li>
<li>The fix ensures that when Quote custom field values are updated in the header, the plugin now correctly displays and uses the current value for calculations, particularly important for implementations using these fields for custom UI Plugin calculations.</li>

<h3><a id="bf-eb"></a>Everything Billing</h3>
<h4>Unable to delete canceled orders from Nue</h4>
<ul>
<li>When attempting to delete a canceled order in Salesforce, the system reported an error and the order was not deleted from Nue. This issue has been resolved in this release.</li>

Next, follow these steps to set up the NetSuite Connector in Nue:

<li class="p1">Search for NetSuite Integration.</li>
<li class="p1">Click Configure to launch the Config-Wizard.</li>
<li class="p2">On the Config-Wizard page:
<ul>
<li class="p3">Create &ldquo;API Key-based&rdquo; authentication for Nue.&nbsp; Please follow the steps documented <a href="https://docs.nue.io/docs/tutorial/tutorial-the-nue-platform/api-keys/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">here</a> to retrieve your Nue API Key.&nbsp; We recommend creating a dedicated API Key for the NetSuite Connector.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li class="p3">Set up &ldquo;Token-Based&rdquo; authentications for NetSuite. This requires configuring both REST and SOAP connectors separately.&nbsp; Please follow the steps in the section below to retrieve NetSuite Credentials.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>

<li class="p2">Complete the remaining settings and click Finish to finalize the configuration.</li>

Nue integrates with NetSuite using Token-Based Authentication. You will need the following credentials to complete the setup:

<h1>Understanding Line Types</h1>
Line items within Nue refer to the individual items listed in a quote as quote line items or in an order as order products. Nue categorizes line items into four distinct types, which are as follows:
<ul>
<li>Product Line (LineItem): Represents a regular product line item.</li>
<li>Ramp Line (RampItem): Represents a subscription ramp line item.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Summary Line&nbsp;(SummaryItem): Represents a summary line item.</li>
<li>Split Line (SplitItem): Represents a split line item.</li>
</ul>
<h2><a id="product-line"></a>Product Line</h2>
A regular line item in a quote or order is represented by a product line. Whenever a product is added to a quote or order, a product line is generated. Sales users have the ability to edit various fields of this line, such as Quantity, Subscription Term, Start Date, End Date, Discount, System Discount, and other fields, including custom fields. Nue's embedded Pricing Engine automatically performs calculations and adjustments for relevant pricing fields, such as Total Price, Total Amount, as well as metrics fields like ARR, CMRR, TCV, ACV, ensuring accurate values in real-time.
&nbsp;
In the case of a bundle product being added to a quote or order, a bundle product line is created to represent the bundle itself. Additionally, an individual line item is generated for each add-on or bundled product option that the user configures within the bundle. These add-on or bundled product lines establish a parent-children relationship with the bundle product line.
<h2><a id="ramp-line"></a>Ramp Line</h2>
A ramp line represents a partial line with a consistent monthly Contracted Monthly Recurring Revenue (CMRR) within a specified Start Date and End Date. This type of line is commonly used when applying subscription ramp pricing. For instance, if a recurring product offers a 1-month free trial, when a sales user adds this product to a quote or order with a 12-month subscription term, two ramp lines are created. The first ramp line represents the initial month with a $0 CMRR, while the second ramp line represents the remaining 11 months with a non-zero CMRR. Additionally, a summary line is generated to represent the cumulative amounts for the entire 12-month subscription term.
&nbsp;
When a ramp-type price tag is assigned to a Product Line in Nue, the system automatically divides the product line into multiple ramp lines based on the Starting Unit and Ending Unit specified in the price tag. This division ensures that each ramp line maintains a consistent Contracted Monthly Recurring Revenue (CMRR) within the specified Start Date and End Date of the line.
&nbsp;
Suppose we have a subscription-based product with a 24-month contract term. The pricing for this product follows a ramp structure, where the first 12 months have a discounted rate of $50 per month, and the subsequent 12 months have a regular rate of $100 per month.
&nbsp;
In this case, when adding this product to a quote or order, Nue's pricing engine automatically splits the product line into two ramp lines based on the specified price tag. The first ramp line represents the initial 12 months with a CMRR of $50, and the second ramp line represents the following 12 months with a CMRR of $100.
&nbsp;
The start and end dates for each ramp line align with the corresponding time periods. For instance, the start date for the first ramp line would be the subscription start date, and the end date would be exactly 12 months later. Similarly, the start date for the second ramp line would be 12 months after the subscription start date, and the end date would be the subscription end date.
&nbsp;
This split into ramp lines ensures that the CMRR remains consistent within each period, reflecting the applied pricing structure throughout the subscription duration.

The specific data structure is designed to simplify the calculation of aggregated Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and Contracted Monthly Recurring Revenue (CMRR). To compute the aggregated ARR or CMRR for any given point in time, for any product, customer, or other dimensions, we can retrieve all Product Lines and Ramp Lines with the given date in between their Start Date and End Date. These lines can be grouped based on specific products or customers, and their Delta ARR and Delta CMRR fields can be summarized accordingly.

<h2><a id="summary-line"></a>Summary Line</h2>
A summary line serves the following 2 purposes:&nbsp;

Group Ramp Lines: In this use case, the summary line groups ramp lines associated with subscription ramp pricing. For example, consider a scenario where a user opts for a 2-year subscription with a ramp pricing structure that increases the price by 5% in the second year. In this case, there would be a summary line that consolidates and groups the information from the two ramp lines, representing each year of the subscription.
&nbsp;
Group Assets and Changes: In this particular scenario, the summary line combines an asset (which can refer to an asset, subscription, or entitlement) and its corresponding change line, providing a representation of the asset's information after the change has been implemented. For instance, suppose a user has a 12-month subscription with a Start Date of 01/01/2023 and an End Date of 12/31/2023. If the user renews the subscription for an additional 12 months, the change line would reflect a subscription term of 12, with a new Start Date of 01/01/2024 and an End Date of 12/31/2024. Meanwhile, the summary line would indicate a subscription term of 24, with a Start Date of 01/01/2023 and an End Date of 12/31/2024.
<h2><a id="split-line"></a>Split Line</h2>
In the scenario of <a href="../tutorial/tutorial-quote-builder/quote-split/">Quote and Order Split</a>, a quote or order can be divided into multiple line buckets, with each bucket containing two or more regular lines or split lines. The split lines are generated when a single line is split into two separate lines, and each line is assigned to a specific line bucket. These split lines are not visible in the Line Editor but can be viewed on the Split Lines page within the quote or order flow. When a user selects a particular line bucket, the corresponding split lines associated with that bucket are displayed.

Understanding Line Types

<h1><a id="Overview"></a>Overview</h1>
Renewal Opportunities play a major role in the executive dashboards and reporting. Suppose the customer already has an automated flow that creates a Renewal Opportunity as soon as an Opportunity is Closed/Won.
&nbsp;

<li>Nue will use this Renewal Opportunity to add a link to associate the Subscription(s) that are created. This association will allow Nue to know which Renewal Opportunity to update each time the Subscription version is updated.</li>
<li>Each time the Subscription version is updated, the Renewal Opportunity will be updated with the following fields:

<li>Total TCV (add a field to Opportunity)</li>
<li>Total ACV (add a field to Opportunity)</li>
</ul>

<li>Also, there are ARR-related formula fields on the Opportunity that will be automatically updated.

There are two sample flows within Nue on Salesforce package, you need to clone each of them and make changes according to your business requirements 
Flow 1 : Generate Opportunity Subscriptions
 This flow is used to generate the opportunity subscription(junction table) records between renewal opportunities and subscriptions, and populate the Total ACV and Total TCV to the generated opportunity subscription records:

Enable the &lsquo;Calculate metrics on a daily basis' setting on Nue to calculate the subscription Today&rsquo;s ARR and Today&rsquo;s CMRR, this will update all subscriptions nightly. The update action will trigger the 'Generate Opportunity Subscriptions' flow to generate opportunity subscription records for existing subscriptions. If you need to see the results immediately, please run the following batchable job from the developer console:

<h1><a id="Additional-Notes"></a>Additional Notes</h1>
When 'Advanced Currency Management' is turned on, you cannot create a rollup summary field on Opportunity object to aggregate the currency type field from the custom child object. So we have to use a workaround in this case, please refer to this doc: <a href="https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000386732&amp;type=1">https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000386732&amp;type=1</a>
&nbsp;
In the Opportunity Subscription object, we have already introduced some number type fields, and these fields are all populated with the same values as the corresponding currency type fields. If your org has enabled the 'Advanced Currency Management' feature, please create the rollup-summary fields (ARR, Target ARR, Total ACV, Total TCV) on Opportunity object against these number type fields. And then create other formula fields to convert the rollup summary number fields to currency type. This is a workaround for this special case.

<h1>Billing Account Hierarchy</h1>
When dealing with larger companies that have multiple departments, divisions or subsidiaries, having multiple billing accounts can be extremely beneficial in various scenarios. For instance, an organization may wish to track the budgets and expenses of certain departments through separate billing accounts, or multiple subsidiaries may need to use the same billing information. Additionally, some companies may require the billing process to be split based on different regions, products or currencies.
&nbsp;
Nue accommodates two primary scenarios to fulfill the mentioned requirements:
1. A single sales account associated with multiple billing accounts; 2. Multiple sales accounts use a shared billing account.
&nbsp;
<h2><a id="Sales_Account_with_Multiple_Billing_Accounts"></a>A single sales account with multiple billing accounts</h2>
In Salesforce, Nue utilizes a single Account object for both sales and billing purposes. Typically, this account is referred to as a 'Sales Account' and is managed by sales representatives to oversee the sales process. If you create another account and link it to the sales account through the Related Account (Ruby__RelatedAccount__c) junction object, the newly created account will be recognized as a 'Billing Account' for the associated 'Sales Account'.

However, if you want to bill some of its orders using a different account, you can create a new billing account called 'Nue - Billing Account' and link it to the 'Nue' sales account. This will allow you to select a different billing account when creating an order, and thus process billing through different billing accounts

By default, the billing account for a quote or order will match the sales account. However, if the customer has multiple billing accounts, you have the option to select a different one during the quote or order creation process. Once the quote is finalized and converted into an order, the selected billing account will be carried over to the newly generated order as well.

When you select a billing account, you will see the billing accounts that are already associated with the current sales account listed under the 'RELATED BILLING ACCOUNTS' section. You can also choose any account that is not a billing account of the current sales account from the 'OTHER ACCOUNTS' section. After the quote is finalized into an active order, the selected account will automatically become a billing account of the sales account.

For example, if a customer named 'Nue' has two subscriptions&mdash;one using 'Nue' as the billing account directly and the other associated with a separate billing account called 'Nue - Billing Account'&mdash;the two subscriptions will be billed separately. Consequently, there will be a distinct invoice generated for each billing account.

For instance, individual departments may buy products or services from a vendor independently, but the organization will receive a combined invoice for all the items purchased by its various departments.

Salesforce supports the account hierarchy, you can build your sales account hierarchy via the Parent Account field. For example, the customer 'Nue' has two subsidiaries 'Nue - San Francisco' and 'Nue - Los Angeles', you can create two child accounts and link them to 'Nue' as a parent account.

When configuring a billing schedule, you can filter for specific accounts to generate invoices exclusively for them.

If a sales account is linked to multiple billing accounts, all subscriptions associated with those billing accounts will be billed together. Additionally, you have the option to include subsidiaries in the billing process. For instance, if you run a billing schedule for 'Nue' and select the 'Include Subsidiaries' option, subscriptions for 'Nue - San Francisco' and 'Nue - Los Angeles' will also be billed.

After the change order is activated, the subscription will be billed through the new billing account.

<li>If account B is linked to account A through the Related Account (Ruby__RelatedAccount__c) junction object, account B will be considered a billing account for account A. Nue does not have any limitations on billing accounts, so you can still use it for managing sales processes, creating orders and subscriptions, and so on. However, we suggest separating the use of sales and billing accounts if you need multiple billing accounts for a customer.</li>
<li>When processing billing for customers, the generated invoices will be based on the associated billing accounts instead of the customers themselves. For example, customer A has linked billing accounts B and C, if you run a billing job for customer A, the generated invoices will be grouped by billing accounts B and C.</li>
<li>If multiple sales accounts share the same billing account, by default, the generated invoices will be grouped by the billing account. But users can choose to generate invoices for each sales account separately by enabling the 'Sales Account' billing group attribute from Nue System Settings -&gt; Billing -&gt; Billing Groups. For more details, please refer to <a title="Billing Groups" href="https://docs.nue.io/docs/tutorial/tutorial-billing-accelerator/billing-groups/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Billing Groups</a>.</li>
<li>When you create a quote or order, you are able to choose any billing accounts connected to the current sales account and its ancestor accounts by default. If you need to customize the available options, you can add a lookup filter plugin to the Billing Account field on the Quote or Order object. Within the customer's Lifecycle Manager, the 'General' table offers an aggregated perspective of an account, available in Grid View, List View, and Summary View formats, provided the current account has associated children sales accounts or billing accounts.

The fields visible in any of these views are governed by a field set named "Customer Fields" within the Account object in Salesforce. To tailor the layout of these views, you can configure the fields included in this field set, and their sort order.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Upon toggling the "Show Subscription" switch, it conveniently disaggregates revenue streams for individual subscriptions, consolidated at the product level. For instance, if multiple child accounts hold subscriptions for "Conversational Intelligence," the chart displays the total revenue streams for this product.

To enhance visualization, only the top 3 active product subscriptions are listed, with additional products grouped under the "Other" category.

Furthermore, users can utilize the "Sales Accounts" dropdown to switch between various sales accounts. By toggling between "Sales Accounts" and "Subscriptions," users can dynamically analyze the revenue stream by both sales accounts and products.

In this scenario, both "Walt Disney Corporation" and "Disneyland Paris" will be visible on the Billing Accounts tab.

On both tabs, users can click on the "Eye" icon in each row to navigate to the General view of the Lifecycle Manager corresponding to the respective account.

Users have the option to inspect orders, subscriptions, assets, entitlements, invoices, credit memos, and more pertaining to related sales accounts within their respective tabs in the Lifecycle Manager.

If the current account functions as a sales account, users gain visibility into orders, subscriptions, assets, entitlements, invoices, credit memos, and related data not only for the current account but also for all its associated child sales accounts.

In cases where the current account operates as a billing account, users can access orders, subscriptions, assets, entitlements, invoices, credit memos, and pertinent information not only for the current account itself but also for the sales accounts that designate it as the billing account for transaction invoicing.

<h1>Quantity Tier Attributes</h1>
The Quantity Tier Attribute feature allows users to create custom quantity tier attributes for price tags. This feature is particularly useful when the actual price tiers are not directly determined by the quantity of the line item but by other factors such as the number of active users, integrations purchased, or total rooms in a sales account hierarchy.
&nbsp;
When&nbsp;a user creates a price or discount tag, the user can associate the quantity (or term) dimension with the quantity dimension of a UOM.&nbsp;&nbsp;At quoting or order time, the actual unit volume or tier prices is determined by the quantity of the line item.&nbsp;
&nbsp;
Oftentimes, the actual price tiers are not determined by the quantity of the line item directly.&nbsp; The following are some examples.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
Example #1
A Subscription Plan Based on Active Users:

<li> Pricing Determinant: Number of active users.</li>
</ul>
The pricing tier for the cloud storage service is based on the number of active users in an account instead of the actual of the storage units. For example, 1-10 users might fall under the basic tier, 11-50 users under the standard tier, and 51-100 users under the premium tier. Each tier offers a different amount of storage space and features.

In the above examples, the quantity dimension of the price tag is not the quantity dimension of the product UOM itself, but is derived from a field of the related object, which can be quote, account, or even opportunity.&nbsp;&nbsp;

This is also applicable in a change order.&nbsp; In the example #1, when the number of users of an account is changed, in a change order, e.g., when a quantity is updated, or during the renewal, the sales price will be recalculated according to the tiered pricing determined by the latest number of users.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Similar to a pricing attribute, a Quantity Tier Attribute is a specific field on an object related to Quote Line Item or Order Product, such as Quote, Order, Opportunity, Account or related custom objects, that is used to determine the volume-based pricing tier of a product or service. This attribute represents a particular numeric value or metric that influences the pricing structure, independent of the quantity of the line item itself.

In the context of the TeamFlow Pro, the quantity tier attribute could be the &ldquo;Number of Employees.&rdquo; This attribute dictates the pricing tier based on the estimated number of employees of account associated with the quote or order.

<li class="p1">Within the quote, search for the product TeamFlow Pro and add it to the quote, setting the quantity as 1.</li>
<li class="p1">Click on the Price Tag icon to view the pricing details. You will see that the price tier &ldquo;50 - 200&rdquo; is applied, which sets the unit price to $8, though the quantity is 1.&nbsp;</li>

The customer Smart Revenue has grown rapidly in size.&nbsp; At renewal time, Smart Revenue now has 250 employees.&nbsp; The Sales Rep would like to renew the customer with the price adjusted to the true-up amount based on the current number of employees.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
The sales rep first updates the "Number of Employees" field of Smart Revenue to 250.&nbsp; Then she can follow the steps below to renew while adjusting the price to the true-up amount:&nbsp;

<li>Navigate to Accounts, select the account ("Smart Revenue" in our example), and click "Manage Customer Lifecycle".</li>
<li>Click "Renew" for 12 months, and click "Add to Cart"</li>

<h1><a id="transfer-to-pay"></a>Transfer Debit Memos to Payment Systems</h1>
After a debit memo is created, it will be automatically transferred as an invoice item to your connected payment system (e.g. <a title="Stripe Integration" href="../../../../tutorial/tutorial-integrations/stripe-integration/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Stripe</a>) in real-time. This ensures that the debit memo is accurately reflected in the invoice and can be processed for payment.
&nbsp;
The original overdue invoice will be voided in the connected payment system.&nbsp; A new invoice will be created containing the original invoice items, as well as a new "Late Fee" invoice item.&nbsp; The description of the debit memo will be used to identify the additional invoice item in the new invoice.

When an invoice with a debit memo item is paid in Stripe, the payment information will be transferred back to Nue. Two Payment Application records will be generated&mdash;one for the invoice amount and another for the debit memo amount. This allows for accurate tracking and reconciliation of payments associated with both the invoice and the debit memo.

In the event of a partial refund for an invoice that contains a debit memo item, the refund process handles the refund amounts for the invoice and the debit memo separately.&nbsp;

If the total refund amount is equal to or greater than the original invoice amount, the invoice is considered fully refunded in Nue. For example, the invoice amount is $99, debit memo is $10 and the total refund amount is $100, the invoice will be marked as fully Refunded in Nue.The debit memo will be considered as Partially Refunded.&nbsp; Nue will first process the original invoice first before processing debit memos.
&nbsp;
When refunds happen, 2 credit memo records will be created containing the refunded amounts, one for the original invoice, and one for its associated debit memo.&nbsp; If <a title="Credit Memo" href="../../../../tutorial/tutorial-billing-accelerator/invoices-and-credit-memos/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Credit Memo</a> feature is not enabled in Nue, a negative invoice will be created instead.

Session timeout is a critical security feature that exists in web applications and systems to protect user privacy and prevent unauthorized access. A "session" refers to the period during which a user interacts with a system, starting from the login moment. The session timeout is a pre-set duration for which a user's session remains active. After this specified period of inactivity, the system automatically logs out the user to prevent unauthorized access and secure sensitive information.
In Nue, users can customize session timeout to match their security policies and preferences. You can choose from timeout durations of the following options:

The Standard Price should be the price paid for a single UOM. For example, if your UOM is a license/month, and you charge $299/month, your Standard Price is $299. This is also the List Price.

List Price is defined as the &ldquo;per unit price&rdquo;. The List Price cannot be negative. It must be greater or equal to zero.
&nbsp;
If your UOM is &ldquo;per user per month&rdquo;, define your list price as the price you charge for a single user each month.

<h1>Invoice and Credit Memo Lifecycle</h1>
Invoices and Credit Memos in Nue have the following statuses in their lifecycle:&nbsp;

<h2><a id="draft"></a>Draft</h2>
When an invoice is in the "Draft" status, it means that it has been created but not yet finalized or sent to the customer. It serves as a preliminary version that can be edited and reviewed before it is officially processed. Draft invoices are typically used for internal purposes to ensure accuracy and completeness before they are considered active.
&nbsp;
The invoices in DRAFT status are enforced with the business rules below:&nbsp;
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Draft invoices can be activated or canceled</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">If a draft invoice exists for a customer&rsquo;s billing period, new invoice items will be added to the draft invoice</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Only draft invoices can be updated with more invoices items.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">There can be only one draft invoice for a billing account.</li>
</ul>
<h2><a id="active"></a>Active</h2>
An invoice in the "Active" status indicates that it has been finalized and sent to the customer for payment. This status signifies that the invoice is currently in the billing cycle and awaiting payment. The customer is expected to review the invoice, make the necessary payment, and fulfill any outstanding obligations mentioned within the invoice. The active status reflects the ongoing transactional phase of the invoice.

The invoices in ACTIVE status are enforced with the business rules below:&nbsp;

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Invoice items in active invoices are considered billing transactions</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Active invoices are immutable:&nbsp; they cannot be updated without being canceled first.&nbsp; Only the latest invoice can be canceled.&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Only unpaid (Payment Status is not equal to Paid), active invoices may be canceled.</li>
</ul>
<h2><a id="canceled"></a>Canceled</h2>
When an invoice is marked as "Canceled," it means that it has been voided or invalidated. This status is typically assigned when there is a need to nullify the invoice due to various reasons such as errors, changes in agreements, or customer requests. A canceled invoice no longer holds any financial obligations, and it is removed from the active billing cycle. It serves as a record to indicate that the invoice was initially created but has been officially nullified.
&nbsp;
The invoices in CANCELED status are enforced with the business rules below:&nbsp;

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Once an invoice is canceled, the assets, subscriptions, entitlements and usage billed in this invoice will be re-billed in the next billing run</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Canceled invoices cannot be reactivated</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Canceled invoices may be deleted.</li>
</ul>
Users can manage the lifecycle of invoices and credit memos in both Nue App and Nue on Salesforce.&nbsp; Nue manages the synchronization of the invoices and credit memos across both platforms.

<h2><a id="PENDING_ACTIVATION"></a>Pending Activation (Optional)</h2>
Before activating an invoice, its status can be marked as "Pending Activation" as an optional step. This status is typically used when there are additional processes required to activate an invoice. For instance, customers may need to calculate the tax of an invoice using their tax engine instead of Nue tax engine integration. In some cases, there may be additional information to be added to an invoice before it is activated. To enable this 'Pending Activation' status for invoices and credit memos, administrators can do so from the Nue System settings.

<li>When an invoice in 'Pending Activation' status is activated through Nue UI or Nue API, it will be activated.</li>
<li>Users can also cancel an invoice in 'Pending Activation' status. In this case, the invoice's status will change to 'Canceled'.</li>

&nbsp;
"Preview" status is not part of the lifecycle of an invoice or a credit memo.&nbsp; When a new Preview request is issued, and new preview invoices are saved, the previously saved preview invoices for the same quote, order, or account will be deleted automatically.

When creating a new opportunity, if there are more than one record type for opportunities, a user can choose a record type first - for example, New Business, Upsell, Renewal, etc. Then she will be navigated to the Create Opportunity screen.&nbsp; The page layout of the Create Opportunity screen, by default, is based on the Opportunity Layout assigned to the selected record type as well as the current user role.&nbsp;&nbsp;

However, by default, Salesforce will show *all fields* configured on the Opportunity Layout, instead of only the first section, or only the required fields.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
So in order to streamline the opportunity creation process, you can configure a set of Field Set, each associated with a specific record type.&nbsp; Once the field set is configured, Nue will display only the list of fields configured on the field set in the opportunity creation popup.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<h1><a id="create-recordtypes"></a>Create Opportunity Record Types</h1>
If you already have opportunity record types and sales processes, please skip this section.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;
To create a sales process associated with opportunity record type in Salesforce, follow these steps:

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Go to Setup in your Salesforce org.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">In the Quick Find box, search for "Opportunity Record Types" and click on it.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Click on the "New" button to create a new record type.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Give your new record type a name and select the appropriate settings.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Under the "Sales Processes" section, click on "New" to create a new sales process.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Give your new sales process a name and select the appropriate settings.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Define the stages of your sales process by clicking on "Add Stage".</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Customize the picklist values for the Stage field by clicking on "Edit Picklist Values".</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Configure the stage-related picklists, such as Probability, Forecast Category, and Sales Stage.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Define the sales path for the opportunity record type by clicking on "Add Path".</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Customize the sales path by adding guidance for each stage.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Set up any automation, such as workflow rules, to trigger actions based on stage changes or other criteria.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Once you have completed these steps, your new opportunity record type with its associated sales process should be ready to use.</li>

<h1><a id="create-fieldset"></a>Create Field Set</h1>
To create a field set associated with a record type, please follow the steps below.

Assuming you&rsquo;re going to create a field set with record type API name Cross_Sell:&nbsp;

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">In the Quick Find box, search for "Object Manager" and click on it.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Click on "Opportunity" to open the Opportunity object.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">In the left-hand menu, click on "Field Sets".</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Click on the "New" button to create a new field set.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Give your new field set a name and description.</li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="2">Please make sure to include all required fields for this field set to make sure the end user is able to create an opportunity successfully.</li>

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Optionally, add any related list fields that you want to include in the field set.</li>

Now you can test your opportunity creation popup layout in the Change Quote/Order Flow.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Please note the following:&nbsp;

<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">In the Create Opportunity popup, only active record types will be displayed</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">If you do not have a field set associated with a selected record type, Nue will display the full opportunity layout assigned to the record type as well as the current user profile.</li>
