Understanding Data Storage and Synchronization

Data Storage and Synchronization

Nue is a dual-platform system designed to manage the entire cross-channel quote-to-cash journey across two seamlessly integrated platforms: the Salesforce Platform and the Nue Core Services. This integration ensures that all processes, from initial quoting to final cash collection, are efficiently handled and synchronized, providing maximum flexibility and control.

The diagram below visually presents the dual-platform system, illustrating the flow of data and the integration points between the Salesforce Platform and Nue Core Services.

Salesforce Platform: Quote to Order

The Salesforce Platform is the starting point of the journey, where accounts, products, and the quote-to-order process are managed as master data. This phase seamlessly integrates with sales operations to maximize flexibility. Key components include:

  • Opportunity: The initial stage where potential sales are tracked.
  • Quote: Generation of quotes based on opportunities.
  • Order: Creation of orders once quotes are approved.
    • Active Order: The activation of orders triggers the downstream processes, including provisioning and billing.  Upon order activation, subscriptions, assets and entitlements are created.
  • Subscription: Management of subscription-based products.
  • Asset: Tracking of customer assets.
  • Entitlement: Management of customer entitlements.

Active orders, subscriptions, assets, and entitlements are initially created as master data within the Salesforce Platform, but they are mirrored in Nue for downstream billing and payment operations.

Nue Core Services: Order to Cash

Upon order activation, the order-to-cash process begins within the Salesforce Platform, and flows into Nue Core Services. Financial transactions, such as invoices, credit memos, payment applications, etc. are created and managed as master data in Nue and mirrored in Salesforce, ensuring financial control and a centralized transaction hub that integrates with payment, ERP, and revenue systems. Key components include:

  • Transaction Hub: Centralized management of the object mapping between Nue and external systems, including customers, products, and order-to-cash transacitons.
  • Credit Memo: Issuance of credit memos for adjustments.
  • Invoice: Generation of invoices for billing.
  • Debit Memo: Issuance of debit memos for corrections.
  • Usage: Tracking of usage for metered services.
  • Raw Usage: Detailed usage data collection.
  • Payment Application: Handling payments and refunds.

Summary

This dual-platform system ensures that data flows seamlessly between Salesforce and Nue, allowing for real-time synchronization and integration with third-party systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Stripe, Avalara, and RightRev. The data pipeline to Snowflake Data Warehouse further enhances reporting and analytics capabilities.
